For many years I was asleep, living my life in a state of non-existent, doing all the things that ordinary people, unbelievers, do on a daily basis. But when I awaken [ by the Holy Spirit ] my life changed drastically. Though my eyes were open, I did not see [I was spiritually discerned]. They were covered in darkness, re-enforced with veils, clouded with corruption that made it extremely difficult for me to see.

The weights on my back ensured that my footsteps sunk deep, really deep. I just could not find my way, like l was walking in quicksand, making it impossible to follow the footsteps of Jesus. But Jesus came into my life, and all those weights were lifted off my back. Now my footsteps are lighter, and I follow the footsteps of Jesus on my way to heaven. And now I see; even in the dark, God shines his light on me.

When darkness comes with shades of nothing to remember, I remember. I remember the joy of seeing, doing the things that are pleasing to God, giving, loving, walking in the light, praising his Holy name, even when darkness comes.

Now all I can do is rejoice in the Lord. For I am touched by the forces of heaven. And I am thankful for what the Lord has done in my life, and what he continues to do. Because the veils are lifted, now I can see even when darkness comes. And I remember too, the joys of being free.
