I wake up while darkness still looms, saving myself from a sinful, momentary dream, packed with lustful indulgence. But the Lord got my back, always, inspite of what the devil may think.
And I begin to saturate myself with pleasing God. And although there will be many challenges ahead of us — judging seems to grab my interest. Because the last thing I want to do like most of you is judge others. Yet, that’s exactly what some of us do.
We don’t know everything about ourselves. Then, how can we claim to know anything about someone else? This is a learning process which gets better as we get wiser. For wisdom leads to true understanding of self, others, and the fullest sense of our limitations. And although many have said, “We are hard wired this way to judge.” I honestly believe that is a lamed excuse for learn behaviors, some of which were taught in tender years, and yet many by everyday experiences which leave indelible influences on our minds.
And, yes, there will be strong temptations to judge. But the perverseness to judge is ungodly and can only lead to detriment of our souls. And we must resist the devil at all cost.
Many have their take on what qualify as judging, and I am sure you have your too. But are you the preconceived alarmist, only to be silence into disgrace? Does my previous statement meets the criteria necessary for judging? My assumption was intentional; although, it may not be justifiable, and in good taste. But even if my assumption or assessment about you may be right — it is still dangerous, and wrong. When we start to judge, we are treading into dangerous waters. Because, we have deemed or decreed ourselves gods, and that is terribly wrong, and fearful. And it should be left to God, who has the power, honor, and glory to do such a thing. But we can use that as a beacon of light to lead us to a nonjudgemental place.
Many things are well defined and fall under the judgemental category. But many of what we do are shadowy and may or may not cross over that dreadful line in the sand. If my preconceived notion on your character assessment is evidently in play, then I believe that it is fair to say that I have judged you. And for that I am truly sorry.
This is a difficult thing when we think about it and in all seriousness worries me most. I am not by any means implying that everything else is smooth sailing. We are humans and we will make mistakes. But what really matters is what we do about them. If our efforts are seriously inclined with doing better, then change will come. And searching oneself is the human thing to do, although answers are not always vividly displayed. But seeking answers from God will most certainly bring clarity.
We should endeavor our best to not judge others, and I will try my best to not judge you if you do.
…Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgement on it. James 4:11 (NIV)
Let us seek the Lord mercy, grace, wisdom, and understanding, that our minds will not be filled with arrogance, but humility. And our hearts will be filled with love, and kindness. So we may live the best way we can, and see the best in each other without judging.
