Walking Zombies

We are becoming a society of “walking zombies.” Heads down, eyes glued to our cellphones while walking up stairs, walking down stairs slowly in a crawl like fashion, crossing the streets does not change anything, and really does not matter. We’re drawn to them like magnets, unable to pull away. We have evolved into people who seem unable to practice restraint. We’ve invested in technology, and it seems like it is running our lives, becoming almost like hypnotic, robotics soldiers, commanded by it, totally, immersed to the point of stupidity, overly committed, forgetting that’s okay to ignore it for awhile. And paying attention, practicing safety, and talking to one another can be freeing, satisfying, and actually good for our existence and survival. But who stops for a minute and really thinks about that? We’re too far gone — too preoccupied to be shaken. We are sternly committed in the process; we’ll not depart — we cannot depart — we are too far gone to turn back now. This is now the new reality, being caught up in a mindless, wandering world of many who could not care. They alone are in their world, alone.
