Season has changed, or so it seemed, while the quiet night slept silently. Naked, stilled rivers sought warmth, covered with ice in the blistering cold. Wind blew ferociously, painted houses with snow as sounds howled like wolves up and down the walls, agonized ears painfully, demanded attention from shameful trees that sought cover; ears didn’t care to listen, repelled that too. Eyes hid cowardly from unwelcomed elements, fought the heaviness with every force, tried to rise, couldn’t go anywhere, wished to touch the sky so the heavens would know and listen, if only for awhile.
