And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good grounds; such as hear the word and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred (Mark 4:18 – 20).
If you are not rooted in Christ you will not survive the evil days. If Christ is not your Rock you will not endure. If you will not hold fast to the things of God, how can you stand up to evil men? How can you say, I know a God in whose strength I shall endure? How can you say, He shall give me the courage to be courageous against the adversaries? How can you say, In Christ we stand; in Christ we shall die? Why fear man and not God? What can a man do to you in this wicked world if you are a child of God? What can he do if you stand in the liberty of Christ? I tell you this, the wicked man can destroy the body but that shall be the magnitude of his power. That shall be his glory. All vain things must come to an end. The glory of vain men is a desolation before God. It is an abomination that shall be burnt with hell fire. Who is he but man, who shall wither away in the dust? He is nothing but vanity. I say, he is nothing but vanity who shall go down into the pit. But fear my God, the Almighty God of Israel, he can destroy both body and soul in hell. He is whom you should worry about, not the cares of this world. Is this your kingdom? This kingdom will be demolished. And those who stand with it shall go down into the pit with it. This shall be the glory of vain things, liars, deceitfulness, and corruption. It will come to nothing. This is the honour of the gods of this world. It will not stand. It shall be no more. Vanity will be vanity. All that is vanity shall go down into the pit. But the Kingdom of my everlasting God and my Christ shall prevail forever. This is the kingdom that I bring to you today, that should you turn to God, you shall not go down into the pit but you shall enter into the kingdom of my God, the kingdom of truth, and everlasting glory. Stand with Christ, lest you be a fool who shall be destroyed forever. Will you also give up your birthright and lose your inheritance? Will you also be hated by God? For I tell you, those who are not on God’s side shall feel the wrath of the living God. There shall be no mercy for those who stand against God on judgment day. Think about that when you decide to go with the enemy of God. Think about it when you decide to be a friend of this world. Think about that when you are easily persuade by evil men. Think about it; for the day of the LORD is upon us.
Many of you do not want to be denied of the vanities and the corruption of this world. Many of you have already sold out to God’s enemy and have become deciples of Satan. They say they are Christ’s but they will not stand with him in the day of trouble. When evil comes they run in the arms of the enemy, and not in the arms of God. They say, Save me; O wicked man, save me. They are concerned about the vanities of this world, the cares of this world, and the things of this life. Their foundation is not in Christ, nor rooted in him. They praise him with their mouths but not with their hearts. O vanity, O vanity, why do you cleave to wicked men? Why do you bring before them agony and distress and yet they do not see it? Why do you honour them with desolation and destruction and they joyfully accept it? The cares of this life and the things of this world is a detriment to the soul.
And he (Jesus) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it (Luke 9:23 & 24).
God takes care of his own. He watches over them; He guide them; He counsel them, that in the day of famine they shall not suffer. You say, Why say in the day of famine? But I tell you, perilous days will come. Man will suffer hardship, even those who know not God. But the wings of God shall cover us from all evil; for he delights in us. He shall stretch forth his wings, even bringing clouds to shade us from the scorching sun. I know this God. He is my God, the God of yesterday, today, and forevermore. This is the God that I bring to you today. It is he, the everlasting God that I speak of, who parted the red sea, and freed his people from bondage. He is my deliverer, my hope, my salvation. It is he who I run to in times of trouble; for I know not a man who can save but the LORD. Let him be your God, that you shall endure in the evil days. For I tell you the truth, perilous days are coming. And if God is not on your side you will not make it. You will give in and give up, at the delights of your enemies. Turn to God, the God of hope, the God of lovingkindness and truth, the God of eternal life, who giveth life and give it abundantly. Turn to my God and he will remove the fear that wicked men put into your hearts. Turn to my God and he will not forsake you in the days ahead. If God is for you then who can be against you? Who can kill what God has given eternal life? Let us stand with Christ, our God, even worshipping and praising the name of the most High God. Yea, be bold to praise the LORD and stand up in the confidence of Almighty God.
Every wicked thing will come forth, with darkness and death. Even the good things will come forth with the glory of God. Man cannot hide his heart from God. In evil times man’s heart will reveal who he belongs to, whether that be Christ, or the devil. You can cloth yourselves with beautiful apparel but if the heart is filthy it shall be revealed. I tell you, do not be deceived and stand against God. For I come in the glory of God, and in truth, that if you shall heed to the word of God you shall live and not die. I say, you shall live and not die. If God is on your side you shall have the victory. You shall rejoice. Even when others are fearful and without hope in the evil days, you shall say: The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me besides the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalm 23:1 – 6).
O Father, my God, because you live I live. Thank you! LORD, watch over your children, now, and in the days to come. Amen.
