Hope, what a beautiful word to hear and a wonderful thing to know. But most people are too caught up in guilt, horror, torment, everyday struggles, that they think they are not privy to hope. But if we don’t have hope — then we have nothing. And life is one step away from hell, if it’s not there already.
Hope is everywhere, waiting for someone to snatch it up like a thief, only to return again like a stubborn, faithful, loyal, and loving friend. But it’s your only lifeline, and whatever you do don’t give it up, nor should you let anybody take it away from you.
And like an angel, it’s always staying close, just in case. It’s like that soft padding on the playground, waiting to protect us so we don’t hurt ourselves in case we fall, in moments of pain, and suffering. It’s a lifeline that we shouldn’t hesitate to take and in some cases grab quickly; and we should not let go even when we think we’re firmly grounded with the awareness that good, old hope was there for us, always so loyal, so obedient, and ever so friendly, without complaining.
It’s that anchor we can rely on undoubtedly, anytime. Nothing is too heavy for it to carry. It’s so strong, unbias, and always punctual. It never says no, always yes, eager to provide a sense of security, relentless in its behavior, reminding us that it will never leave us completely, just waiting patiently and silently should we need it again.
It is like a friend — the kind who is not only there in good times but also there in times of despair. What a great friend to have. Thank you LORD for hope, for always being there for all of us, despite the fact that we take you for granted, and ignore you sometimes.
Hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. Psalms 130:7
