You say, LORD, LORD, but you praise him not, nor delight not in his glory. And you run after the things that shall not profit you. When you call upon the name of the LORD, you call not in truth. Shall you honour God with lies and corruption? O you, that hold on to pride, do you not know that God hates pride? Let not your pride consume you. Let it not bring destruction upon you. Flee from the things that God hate. And run after the things that he take great delight in.

These six things do the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devise wicked imaginations, feet that be swift to running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sow discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16 – 19).
