For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou have rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king (1 Samuel 15:23).

Hear now the voice of the LORD, you people, that delight in vain things, and say, Our faith shall make us whole. Thou wait for the new dawn and the rising of the sun but do it in vain. Thou heed not to the warning of God, yet say, It is pleasing in his sight. When famine come upon this land will you then call upon the name of the LORD? And when the well run dry will you then desire drink? For tomorrow will come like the desert heat. And like a dry land that mourn for water, so shall it be upon this land. When the vengeance of the wicked rise up will the foolish have hope? I say to all of you, let the wisdom of God take hold of you. Let the warning of God bring fear into your hearts, that you may rise up and make haste and prepare; for the day of evil shall not wane in the land of the wicked. Say unto the LORD, We beseech thee: let wisdom take hold of us. Let us delight in thy voice and put the vain things behind us. Let us give glory to thy name and offer thanksgiving in the evil days. Behold, the strength of Zion is with us. Behold, my great and mighty God is before us. Let us take heed and follow, that when the dawn awake we shall rise up with pleasure to praise the name of the LORD, and glory to his Holy name. Blessed be the name of the LORD!
