Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge (James 4:10 – 11).
These are words of wisdom and of truth. They are the words of God. But oftentimes we negate to follow them. And push them to the side for the hope of injustice. And not airing on the side of caution and seeking these infallible words of God, we place judgement without knowing the truth.
The human psychology is fascinating, if not very colorful. We are so different, yet so alike. And oftentimes we base our judgments on first impressions, momentary lapses in discretion and instinct. Even while under stress, some use the days of the week, months of the year, sunny days, and blistering cold, as a measure of wisdom. But he who is wise in foolishness is not wise in God. And he who exalt himself against another shall be made low. But he that is humble and wise shall find favour in the sight of God. And he who seek not the LORD for wisdom is full of pride. And some may rather use the rain or a rainbow in the cloud stretched out across the sky [a covenant made between God and man and every living thing on this earth – Genesis 9:9 – 16], even white doves, a displace star experiencing magnetic deficiency to judge another, to discredit hope, and trample on love. The prelude is done with such affirmation, and aggression. But perhaps a better alternative might be to reserve judgments, give time a chance to live, and spare ourselves the aggregation of horrible decisions.
Who is man that he will judge so hastily without seeking wisdom? No man should consider himself beyond measure; for God loves the lowly. And it is written: The meek shall inherit the earth (see Matthew 5). And who shall enter the kingdom of God without love for his brother? The Kingdom of God is a place of love. No one shall enter the kingdom of God without love. When we make ourselves low in the sight of God, he will lift us up to higher ground.
This life is but for a moment, like a vapor, here today, and gone tomorrow. Let peace prevail in your hearts. Let the joy of the LORD touch your souls. Let the goodness of the great God be embedded in your hearts, minds, and souls. At the end of the day, the glory of the LORD will be upon those who reserved judgment on the meek, the humble, and the poor. For who have made man so mighty that he would deemed himself such glory unto the LORD thy God?
Judge, lest you be judged. The mercy we show to others is that same mercy that will be returned to us. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God and should acknowledge our faults, our short comings, and seek his forgiveness. Remember, in Christ’s righteousness shall all man be made acceptable before God. God can save a man who is with sin. But a man without sin who can save him? Heed to this wisdom: in it there is life.
